The last time RGV and Nagarjuna paired up, they gave a pathbreaking movie like "Shiva". Although this is a whole different age of movie making, this pair still caught the attention of telugu movie lovers. Let's see how this Officer fares.
Officer is a tale of a strict police officer Shivaji Rao (Nagarjuna) from hyderabad appointed on a Special Investigation Team duty to investigate the questionable encounter of a corrupted cop Narayan Pasari. Shivaji Rao investigates the case and comes to know that Narayan is far more dangerous cop than he looks to the outside world. How does Shivaji prove that Narayan is corrupt and what are the trouble he faces in trying to prove his point forms the story.
Nagarjuna as Shivaji Rao was his usual self. Nothing special or nothing bad from the yesteryear actor. Myra Sareen as Meena is just there to expose in a few scenes and she does her job. Ajay as Prasad was good. The actor who played Narayan Pasari was loud and overacting in every scene possible although credit must be given to RGV for that. Baby Kaavya as Shalu (Shivaji Rao's daughter) was bad.
Let me start with why I have actually decided to watch the movie. When Nagarjuna is involved, everyone hoped the nonsense content of a general RGV movie would be minimal. But unfortunately for me and the very little crowd in the theatres, that is absolutely not the case. The cruelty of an RGV movie is seen right from the frame #1.
The camera angles of RGV are terrible. At times they gave me unbearable headache. The first half was just okay where you kind of (very little) like the storyline but the second half just tests your patience to the core. There are so many shoot out scenes in the movie which irritate you to the maximum. Shoot out sequences in the amusement park and the Kaana shoot out are so lengthy that they fry your brain.
The songs are boring but the background score was good in patches. Overall, a torture movie you wouldn't want to go anywhere near it. Just don't watch it. It's a WARNING.
