Hey heyy!! Tollywood biggies are starting this summer with an out and out family/love story with a lead pair none other than the lovely couple of tollywood, ChySam. They are teaming up with ‘Ninnu Kori’ fame director Shiva Nirvana to bring out this story. Let’s dive in to see how this project shaped out.
Majili is the story of an ex-cricketer Poorna (Naga Chaitanya) who doesn’t have a job. In his past, Poorna falls in love with a navy officer’s daughter Anshu(Divyansha Kaushik). But Anshu’s parents do not agree for their relationship and they had to break up since when Poorna cannot move on with his life after the breakup. He ends up marrying Sravani(Samantha) who’s his neighbor. She loves him right from childhood but couldn’t express it to him. She marries him when Poorna and his father are in dire straits. Poorna however just marries her for his father’s sake but doesn’t really love even after many attempts from her. Will he ever start loving his wife who cares so much for him? What happens to his ex Anshu?
Naga Chaitanya as Poorna looks younger than ever. Especially in the first half he looks way younger than the newbie Divyansha Kaushik. He gives his heart and soul for this movie. The new comer Divyansha looks pretty and carries her role really well. Samantha as Sravani is a show stealer right from scene 1. Her and Chay pose their best looks in this movie. They both look so natural. Subbaraju(Bhushan) is impressive as the antagonist. Rao Ramesh as Poorna’s dad makes a mark. Posani as Samantha’s dad brings in good laughs.
Set in the backdrop of Vizag, Poorna is a famous ex-cricketer and the son of a railways ticket collector. The director takes the Kollywood(Tamil movie) path in narrating this love story. He starts with a flashback, comes to the present and then takes you back to Samantha’s angle of the past. The entire first half runs with the love story of Poorna and Anshu in their teenage. Chaitanya tries hard as a cricketer but is not very convincing.
The second half runs with how jobless Poorna turns post the breakup and what is the reason he gets to marry Sravani. Sravani tries very hard to win the love of Poorna but he doesn’t care about her. He goes to Dehradun for cricket coaching and in a sudden turn of events he meets a little girl whom he coaches. What happens there and will it rescue the marriage of Poorna and Sravani?
The simple things in the movie like the heroine calling hero “mayya” treating him like a husband are the highlights for me.
Music by Gopi Sundar is fantastic. Especially the background score by Thaman is so pleasing for this love story. The dialogues in the movie are fantastic. The only drawback of the movie will be it’s runtime. The second half feels dragged a bit but if you love love stories you will connect to Majili well.
