Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo is the first movie that Bunny’s coming up with in the last 1 and half years and the fans of the stylish star cannot wait. The hit pair of Bunny and Trivikram pair up again to come up with this movie. With the instant chartbusters, Thaman already increased the expectations on the movie to the next fold. Now let’s see if it lives up to them or not.
Rating : 3/5
Tagline : Stylish star gives a good comeback
Valmiki (Murali Sharma) and Ramachandra (Jayaram) are employees of the same company ARK who belong to middle class. Ramachandra marries the owner’s daughter Yashu (Tabu) and gets rich. Both of their wives give birth to a son on the same day. Valmiki exchanges the boys and takes Ramachandra’s son Bantu (Allu Arjun) as his son so that his own son Raj Manohar(Sushanth) gets a better life. Bantu had to lead a middle class life and gets earful everyday from Valmiki. Bantu joins a travel company owned by Amulya(Pooja Hegde) and instantly falls for her but she gets engaged to Raj. How does Amulya and Bantu get together and will Bantu ever get to know his real father makes the story of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.
Allu arjun shows his acting class and dance class yet again. His moves in Ramulo Ramula are a treat to watch. His fights are extremely stylish and he gives his fans many reasons to celebrate with his performance. Pooja Hegde as Amulya is just hot. She doesn’t wear a dress in the whole movie past her knees. Murali Sharma as Valmiki does well as a middle class man but his acting with his teeth out all the time is a little irritating after a point. Sushanth and Tabu get wasted big time and have nothing to perform in the movie. Nivetha Peturaj is equally hot in the movie on par with Pooja Hegde. She dominates Pooja in Ramulo ramula. Sunil is there only for a few scenes. Vennela Kishore invokes good fun in a couple of scenes.
Chunni fight and hotel fight are highlights of the first half. Scenes between Arjun and his father are humorous. Some comedy scenes work well and some do not. Sushanth is completely wasted. The scenes on Pooja’s legs are just low class stuff from Trivikram. Three songs are amazing and well shot. Allu Arjun gives his trademark moves in OMG Daddy. BGM is just too good from Thaman. Guruji takes cinematic liberty to it’s fullest and forgets logic like he’s been doing many a times in the recent past.
Second half starts on a fun note with Bantu’s revenge on his dad. Bantu enters Vaikhuntapurram to look after Ramachandra and there are some fun sequences to follow. Bunny’s red coat scene with his dance moves to star heroes’ songs is a fun episode. Action elevations are right up there and the janapada song for the last fight is too good.
Overall, the story of the movie has nothing new to offer from Trivikram. But Bunny keeps the movie afloat with his fights dances and high elevation action sequences. The emotional scenes in the second half paired with Thaman’s BGM work well. Second half holds the movie together with all the fun, emotion and action sequences. The climax is good even with a predictable storyline. Definitely a one time watch for the festival.
