When a telugu multi-starrer is announced, the festival already starts among our fans. If it involves big names like Nag and Nani, one can only imagine how high the expectations on the movie can get. Let’s see if this movie lives upto the expectations of the movie lovers.
Deva(Nagarjuna) is son of Dada(Sharat Kumar) who operates Mafia Don in India and the most wanted criminal for the police. Dada is killed by a gang led by David(Kunal Kapoor) who seeks to find Deva. Dasu(Nani) is a middle class doctor in high class hospital. Deva enters Hyderabad to find who killed his father. In a major turn of events, a gun shot wounded Deva seeks rescue at the doctor Das who treats him well and earns his confidence. Das falls for Pooja in the process and Deva falls for Jahnavi. Will Deva will be able to catch the gangsters who killed his father? How will he become a good human being forms the rest of the story.
Nagarjuna as Deva has given a good performance. He gets serious role in the movie whereas Nani is there to provide the laughs which he always does the best. Nagarjuna has tuned his body real solid and shows his six pack in his entry scene. He has atleast 10 more years of acting career in him. Rashmika as Pooja is decent. Aakanksha Singh as Jahnavi hardly had any screentime. Swamy Rara fame Satya has provided so many laughs. Srinivas Avasarala as Rajan had nothing much to perform. Naresh as Dasu’s brother was funny. Vennela Kishore as Kuchipudi was okay. Murali Sharma as Police officer does well. And the list goes on.
When it is a multi-starrer, the challenge for the director is always the balance of screen time to appeal the fans of both the heroes. Sriram Aaditya does well to keep them on the screen for the most part and the most commendable aspect of the movie is the chemistry between Nagarjuna and Nani. They complement each other very well in every scene which is pleasing to the eye. When Nagarjuna and Nani get perfect roles and act to their peak, it forms a terrific movie like Devadas.
Background score by Manisarma is fantastic. The songs were good but got in the way of interesting scenes. Paduchandam is the best of the lot. The dialogues in the movie are amazingly written and that holds for both comedy and emotional dialogues. Especially the dialogues in the rebel scene between Deva and Das were very well written. Sriram Aaditya chooses the perfect plot for a multi-starrer and credit to him for casting these heroes in very apt roles.
The only drawback to the movie is too much revolving of sequences because of a complex plot. The first half builds good rapport between Nani and Nag and gives us plenty of laughs and equal dose of emotion but the second half is zigzagged with so much story going on. But even between all the drama going on, there is no dearth of comedy or emotions in the movie which keeps you interested. If you want to watch a good multi-starrer with family and laugh your asses out, this movie is the one. Don't miss it.
