This is the third time Nani is doing a dual role after "Jenda Pai Kapiraju" and "Gentleman". While one had it's own problems, the other was a fantastic thriller. When it is a Nani movie, we know that the movie publicizes itself. There are huge expectations on this movie after his last outing "MCA" which wasn't upto Nani's mark. Let's dive in to see how this movie turns out.
Krishna(Nani) is a kind-hearted villager in one of the villages of Chittoor who has ammayila pichi but unfortunately no girl in the village even looks at him. Whereas Arjun Jayaprakash(Nani) is a rockstar in Prague, Czech Republic who is a flirt and gets girls in no time. Krishna falls for the glamorous Riya (Rukshar Dhillon), who is a doctor happening to visit her grandfather in the same village. Whereas Arjun falls for the cute photographer Subbalakshmi (Anupama Parameshwaran) in his first sight. How will Krishna impress Riya and what makes her fall for him? How does Subbalakshmi change Arjun's life and what makes Arjun win Subbu's love? At the end of first half, there is an interesting twist in the tales of Krishna and Arjun. What makes Krishna and Arjun unite to take the path of Yuddham?
Nani as Krishna is bang on and packs a punch. He once again proves why he is termed as a Natural Star. Even as Arjun in the rockstar role, he was good but not as good as Krishna. Anupama Parameshwaran is an actress who's going to stay in Tollywood for a very long time. The way she expresses through her eyes itself proves her caliber. She has done a brilliant job as Subbalakshmi. Rukshar Dhillon has got a meaty role and she doesn't act like a debutant at all. Credit to the way she pulled off the role of Riya. Krishna's friend characters created good humor. Brahmaji as Arjun's manager/friend has got another hilarious role. Devadarshini as Dinchak Roja complimented Brahmaji perfectly and brought a few laughs. Prabhas Seenu got an important role and did well.
Let me start with how impressed I am with the way the movie took off and maintained the pace until the end of first half. I loved the way Merlapaka Gandhi narrated the story. Especially the way he switched the scenes between Krishna and Arjun. There is a connection every time the scenes are switched. The comedy was spot on. The music by Hip hop Tamizha was good. Specially the songs I wanna fly and Daari Choodu are catchy numbers. The background score was really good.
There was a perfect blend of emotion and comedy throughout the first half. Everytime Brahmaji and Devadarshini (Dinchak Roja) come on screen, it was hilarious. The run time of the first half was about 1 and half hour which is unusual but not once do you realize that it is being stretched needlessly. The timing and taking of the songs were good. Special mention should be given to the dialogues of the movie particularly of Krishna. The Chittoor basha and yaasa were portrayed flawlessly by the director and acted amazingly by Nani. The beauty of Prague was very well captured throughout the first half. It was all going so good, only until the first half.
The second half united Krishna and Arjun fighting for the same cause. But everything in the latter half was so predictable and the narration goes flat. It was a regular telugu cinema where you know how it is going to end but the way you get to the ending is crucial and the director falls short of ideas there. The logic behind the scenes of the hero(s) going behind the villains was silly. The entire backdrop changes in the second half where you kind of miss the beauty of Prague and also the serenity of a village backdrop. At a point you feel like you are watching an entirely different movie. The fun quotient goes missing and you are over stuffed with action and drama. That is where the director could have handled things better. Nevertheless, you can watch it once for the comedy in the first half and Krishna's characterization. My sincere suggestion would be to watch the first half and go back home.
