However advanced we might be technologically, India has always been politically challenged.

Ever since Karthavyam released, there has been a positive buzz on the movie all around and telugu audience are known for encouraging dubbed movies which are good specially from tamil. Karthavyam is one of those concept oriented low budget movies trying to send a message to the audience. Let's dive in to see what the hype is all about.
The movie takes off with the launch of the famous satellite, PSLV C40. Parallel to this, they show a family in a backward village where people hardly have pure water to drink but still celebrate the success of the country. There are shades of Vijay's Kaththi movie when you see the backdrop and the characters but it has a completely different look and feel. In order to rescue this drought-striken village comes the collector of the district Nayanathara (Madhu Varshini). As she tries to help them, the village is faced with a bigger problem where a little girl of the village falls into an open bore well. The collector immediately rushes to the place only to see that there is no equipment or support which is needed to save the little girl. She faces many challenges from the local politicians, media and also the villagers in trying to get the girl out. Will she be able to save the girl or succumb to the pressures from all sides circumventing the situation and let the little girl die?
Nayanathara has been doing many character oriented roles recently and she fits into MadhuVarshini perfectly. Having seen her acting over the years, she is expected pull these roles effortlessly and she does exactly the same. The family of the little girl must have special mention. Their acting was top notch. There aren't any other notable performances but the whole setup of the rescue operation looked very natural.
We have seen many tamil dubbed movies do well in Telugu and Karthavyam (Aramm) will definitely be one of those. One has to admit how realistic these Tamil movies are made. Karthavyam falls into that zone where you don't feel like you are watching a movie in which all the characters are acting.
It is always a challenge for a director to handle scripts like these because when you are shooting the whole movie in a single location it can get monotonous and the audience might lose interest easily. The director took extreme care of that and you can be assured that there is never a feeling of boredom throughout the movie. The scenes where MadhuVarshini handles the political pressures from the local MLA and the minister were good and the dialogues there are well written.
There is always a disappointment of no lipsync in dubbed movies but the concept and involvement of characters overshadows that in this movie. The story has the right depth, so the movie certainly goes in the right direction. The movie might not have the right distribution and promotion given the names involved but I would definitely recommend you to make some time for a movie like this. You'll not regret.
