If only the second half gave half the laughs produced in the first, the movie would have worked wonders.

After Vunnadi Okate Zindagi, hero Ram teams up with Anupama once again for Hello Guru Prema Kosame albeit under a different director Trinada Rao Nakkina who’s latest flick was Nenu Local. The trailer and promotions of the movie have been quite impressive. Let’s see how this combo works out.
Sanju(Ram) who originally hails from Kakinada and is very close to his parents comes to Hyderabad in the pursuit of a job and joins a software company. He happens to live with Vishwanatham (Prakash Raj) who’s a friend of his mother whereas Anupama (Anupama) is the daughter of Vishwanatham. Sanju slowly develops love interest on Anu after getting infatuated with Reetu (Pranitha) initially. But Vishwanatham finds his daughter a better match. How will Sanju convince Anu and her father about his love forms the story.
Ram as Sanju has done a great job. He impresses well with his comic timing and tickles you like crazy with his dialogues throughout the first half. Anupama as Ram’s love interest has given a decent performance. To be fair, her character lacks the meat compared to her previous roles. Pranitha as Reethu was passable. Prakash Raj impresses after a long time in a typical love story backdrop as heroine's father. Aamani as wife of Prakash Raj brings in a few laughs. Rest of them are all just fillers.
The movie starts on a routine route in Kakinada following the recent trend where a mom encourages her son to get into street fights. But then, it immediately goes to Hyderabad where the hero joins a software company and right from the word go, the laughter riot starts. Almost every scene in the first half tickles your nerves. Especially the scenes involving Computer Science concepts were hilarious.
The second half entirely runs on the friendship theme between Ram and Prakash Raj and the hero trying all his tricks on the heroine to make her fall in love with him. While the friendship combo brings a few laughs, the love track and other scenes have a telugu movie template screenplay and kind of bores you out. The climax is a very predictable one much like the movies which release once a month in Tollywood.
Trinada Rao Nakkina seems to have a simple funda for all his movies. A routine telugu movie plot with a commercial screenplay. This time he emphasizes more on comedy and it works well but only for the first part of the film. While the comedy works in the first half, the story doesn’t move anywhere. While the second half gets the story going, it’s not as impressive as the first.
The music of the movie is a template DSP musical with no catchy songs. So is the background score. The production values were rich and the cinematography was good. All in all, if you want to catch a movie for entertainment sake and not for a cinematic experience during the festive season, Hello guru prema kosame can be your choice.
